Bottom line
Wirex EU is a capable crypto debit card with a genuinely wide asset selection and zero FX fees, but meaningful cashback requires either a paid plan or a large WXT lockup. Best for active crypto spenders in Europe.
Wirex earns points for breadth: 150-plus supported cryptos, a Maltese IBAN, and no monthly fee at the base tier. The catch is that the headline 8% cryptoback is reserved for users willing to pay €29.99 a month and lock up over €11,000 in WXT. Free-tier users get a paltry 0.5% with a cap worth roughly €20 a month.
Wirex Ltd issues this card under a Lithuanian e-money licence on the Mastercard network. It is a custodial debit card denominated in euros. Both physical and virtual form factors appear unavailable at the time of writing, though Apple Pay is supported. Wirex auto-converts crypto holdings at the point of sale, charging a 2% conversion fee; FX fees are waived entirely. The card supports over 150 cryptocurrencies and is available across 37 countries including most of the EU, the UK, Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong. KYC is required. Cardholders receive a Maltese IBAN and a personal bank account, though third-party deposits are not accepted. Daily spend reaches 30,000 EUR and daily ATM withdrawals are capped at 500 EUR with a 2% ATM fee.
Wirex markets up to 8% cryptoback, but rewards are paid in WXT tokens rather than cash and the structure is heavily tiered. Free Standard users earn 0.5% cryptoback, capped at 10,000 WXT worth roughly 20 EUR per month. Reaching 1% requires either locking 150,000 WXT (around 300 EUR) or paying €9.99 a month for the Premium plan. The advertised 8% sits at the Elite-Ultimate tier, which costs €29.99 monthly plus a 7,500,000 WXT lockup worth approximately €11,400. A welcome bonus of 10 USD is offered. Typical free-tier users will see negligible real-world value from rewards given both the low rate and the WXT cap.
