Plutus Card card

Plutus rewards serious spenders who stake its own token, but the monthly fee and tight free-tier cap make it a poor fit for casual users. Best for European crypto holders committed to the PLU ecosystem.

FAQs

Questions, answered

The Plutus Card is a Visa debit card linked to a Plutus account and rewards programme. Users fund the account in euros or pounds, spend with the virtual or physical card, and can earn +PLUS Points on eligible purchases.

Plutus currently starts users at a 3% reward rate, while higher Reward Levels unlocked by stacking PLU can increase the rate to as much as 9%. Paid plans also determine how much monthly card spending is eligible for rewards and how many monthly Perks the user receives.

The card itself is a normal account-funded debit product rather than a card that spends cryptocurrency directly at the merchant.

The Plutus Card is a debit card, not a revolving credit card. Purchases are funded from the money available in the user's Plutus account, so there is no standard credit line or interest-bearing card balance.

This means the account needs enough available funds for the transaction to be authorised. The rewards system is separate: eligible spending can generate +PLUS Points, but those points do not create additional credit for card purchases.

Plutus currently starts at 3% back on eligible card spending, paid as +PLUS Points rather than conventional cash. Users who stack PLU and unlock higher Reward Levels can increase the reward rate, with Plutus advertising up to 9%.

The percentage is only part of the calculation. Each subscription plan sets a monthly amount of card spending eligible for rewards: Starter currently covers €250 or £250, Everyday €500 or £500, and Premium €1,000 or £1,000 before any additional Reward Cap or Reward Level benefits.

Not every transaction qualifies, and rewards normally remain pending before becoming available.

#ERROR!

Plutus currently offers Starter, Everyday and Premium paid plans. Starter costs €6.99 or £6.99 per month, or €69.99 or £69.99 annually, and includes 3% rewards on up to €250 or £250 of monthly eligible spend plus one Perk.

Everyday costs €9.99 or £9.99 monthly, or €99.99 or £99.99 annually, and raises the rewardable spend to €500 or £500 with two Perks. Premium costs €19.99 or £19.99 monthly, or €199.99 or £199.99 annually, and includes €1,000 or £1,000 of rewardable spending and three Perks.

Reward Levels can add further benefits independently of the subscription.

Plutus Perks are monthly merchant-specific rewards that provide up to €10 or £10 in +PLUS Points at selected brands. Plutus currently lists more than 50 options, including retailers and services such as Amazon, Aldi, ChatGPT, Netflix, Lidl, McDonald's and Booking.com.

The number of Perks depends on the subscription plan and Reward Level. Starter includes one, Everyday two and Premium three before any extra Perks unlocked through PLU Reward Levels. Plutus says the combined total can reach up to 12.

Spending above the Perk amount can still earn the user's normal card reward rate if the remaining transaction is eligible.

Plutus currently charges no fee for domestic point-of-sale card purchases. Non-domestic card transactions carry a 2.5% fee across Starter, Everyday and Premium.

ATM withdrawals also cost 2.5%. Virtual card issuance is free, while a physical card costs €9.99 or £9.99. Fiat deposits and withdrawals are listed as free. Trading fees are currently 1% on Starter and 0% on Everyday and Premium.

PLU or reward payouts can carry dynamic network and service fees, so users should separate ordinary card fees from costs attached to moving rewards outside the in-app ecosystem.

Plutus currently publishes very high card limits across all three plans. The single-transaction and daily card spending limit is listed at €500,000 or £500,000, while the rolling 30-day maximum is €1 million or £1 million.

These limits are different from the amount of spending that earns rewards. Starter currently rewards only the first €250 or £250 of eligible monthly spending, Everyday €500 or £500, and Premium €1,000 or £1,000 unless the user has additional Reward Cap benefits.

A high card limit therefore does not mean unlimited rewards.

Yes. The physical Plutus Card can be used at compatible ATMs. Plutus currently charges 2.5% per ATM withdrawal across Starter, Everyday and Premium.

The ATM operator can also add its own surcharge or currency conversion, so the final withdrawal cost can be higher than Plutus's fee alone. If you withdraw in a currency different from the card or account currency, foreign-currency costs can also apply.

Users who withdraw cash frequently should compare Plutus with cards that include a fee-free ATM allowance.

Google Pay is supported for the Plutus virtual card according to Plutus's current Help Centre. Users can add the virtual card and make contactless payments at compatible NFC merchants.

Plutus's current virtual-card FAQ still says direct Apple Pay support is not available and recommends using Curve as an intermediary for Apple users. Because that help article also contains older rollout wording, Apple Pay users should check the live Plutus app before relying on direct provisioning.

Mobile-wallet support does not change the card's rewards, fees or spending limits.

Yes. Plutus offers a physical card in addition to its free virtual card. The physical card currently costs €9.99 or £9.99 to order.

Plutus says delivery normally takes around two to five weeks and currently does not provide shipment tracking through its card provider. The order cannot be cancelled for a refund once the card enters personalisation.

Both virtual and physical cards are linked to the same Plutus account balance, so ordering the physical version does not create a separate spending account.

The Plutus Card itself should not be described as self-custodial. It spends money held in the user's Plutus account and operates through conventional debit-card infrastructure.

Plutus does support self-custody for PLU stacking. Users can hold PLU in their own connected external wallets and have that balance count towards Reward Levels. That is different from the fiat balance used for card payments.

This distinction matters because Plutus combines a normal card account with blockchain-based loyalty mechanics, rather than making every card purchase directly from a self-custodial crypto wallet.

PLUS Points are the in-app rewards generated by eligible Plutus card spending. They can be used for utilities such as gift cards, travel and other Plutus features once they become available.

PLU, also called Rare PLU in current Plutus materials, is the external token used for stacking and Reward Level progression. Plutus says PLU can no longer be earned directly from ordinary card spending. Instead, stacking PLU can unlock higher card reward percentages and additional Perks.

The distinction is important because earning 3% or more with the card does not mean users are automatically receiving freely transferable PLU after every purchase.

Create a Plutus account through the official app or website and complete the required onboarding and identity checks. Eligible users receive access to the free virtual card through the Card section.

You can then fund the Plutus account and begin using the virtual card online or through a supported mobile-wallet route. If you want a physical card, order it separately from the Card section and keep at least €9.99 or £9.99 available for the current order fee.

Subscription and Reward Level choices affect rewards and Perks, but they are separate from basic card issuance.

For card, rewards or account problems, use the official Plutus Help Centre at https://www.plutus.it/help. Plutus also lists support@plutus.it for users who cannot resolve an issue through the Help Centre.

For a fee or card-transaction question, include the transaction amount, date, merchant and any error shown in the app. Plutus says its support team can explain card fees or investigate account-specific issues.
