Exodus Card is a free virtual card attached to Exodus Pay, a self-custodial balance held in XO Cash, a USD-backed stablecoin issued with MoonPay. It earns reward points on both what you hold and what you spend, and works through Apple Pay and Google Pay. The catch: virtual only, no ATM withdrawals, no PIN support, and Exodus does not publish the rewards rate.

FAQs

Questions, answered

The current Exodus Card is a virtual debit card inside Exodus Pay. It lets eligible users spend the XO Cash balance in their Exodus Pay account online or through Apple Pay or Google Wallet at compatible merchants.

Exodus Pay is built around a self-custodial account model, so Exodus positions it differently from a traditional bank account. Users can deposit, send and spend money-like digital assets from the Exodus app.

Exodus also previously offered a separate Spend Card connected directly to delegated Solana assets. Existing Spend Card users are being migrated into Exodus Pay, so current card information should focus on the Exodus Pay version rather than older Spend Card or Metal Card documentation.

The current Exodus Card uses the user's Exodus Pay balance to fund purchases. Exodus says the card works like a regular debit card, with card transactions reducing the available XO Cash balance.

The virtual card can be used for online purchases using the card number, expiry date and security code. For in-person payments, eligible users can add it to Apple Pay or Google Wallet.

Exodus Pay can be funded through methods such as debit card, Apple Pay on iOS, QR-code requests and supported stablecoins such as USDC and USDT, depending on location. The exact available funding routes vary by country.

Exodus Pay is designed around self-custody. Exodus states that users retain control of the funds in their Exodus Pay account rather than depositing them into a conventional bank account controlled entirely by Exodus.

The current card spends from XO Cash held within Exodus Pay. Card services themselves are provided by third-party payment partners, so merchant settlement still relies on regulated card infrastructure.

This distinction is important: self-custody applies to the account design and digital assets, while the card network, card issuer and transaction processing remain conventional financial services subject to separate terms.

Exodus currently advertises the virtual Exodus Card as free. There is no physical card under the current Exodus Pay card programme, so there is no plastic-card issuance charge to consider.

Exodus also promotes free deposits for some funding methods for a limited period, although availability and third-party costs can vary by region.

Card users should still review any exchange-rate or card-provider charges shown at the time of a transaction. Exodus has operated more than one card programme, and older Spend Card or Metal-tier fee schedules should not be applied automatically to the current Exodus Pay virtual card.

Yes. Exodus Pay currently offers real-time rewards for eligible card spending, with rewards accumulating as points that can later be converted into XO Cash.

Exodus does not publish one universal permanent cashback percentage on its main Pay page. The amount depends on the user's eligible balance, spending and current reward programme. Card-purchase rewards become available to convert after the qualifying purchase is finalised.

Exodus can also run merchant-specific promotions. For example, selected Latin American users currently have a one-time 25% reward on an eligible first DGO or SKY+ subscription payment. Such promotions should not be treated as the standard ongoing cashback rate.

The current Exodus Pay card spends from the user's XO Cash, or XO, balance inside Exodus Pay. XO Cash acts as the spendable balance used by the card.

Users can fund Exodus Pay through several supported routes, including deposits involving USDC and USDT, as well as supported fiat-facing methods such as debit cards and Apple Pay in eligible locations.

This differs from the older Exodus Spend Card, which could directly delegate selected Solana assets such as USDC, USDT and XO for card use. Existing Spend Card users may see migration prompts into Exodus Pay.

Yes. The current Exodus Card can be added to Apple Wallet on iOS or Google Wallet on Android for compatible contactless payments.

Mobile-wallet support is especially important because the Exodus Pay card is currently virtual-only. Users enter card details for online purchases and use a supported wallet for in-person transactions.

Wallet availability can still depend on the card's issuing region and the user's device. Adding the card to a mobile wallet does not change the underlying XO Cash balance or the reward rules attached to Exodus Pay.

No. Exodus currently states that the Exodus Pay card is available only as a virtual card. Physical cards are not currently supported in this programme.

That means users rely on card details for ecommerce and mobile wallets such as Apple Pay or Google Wallet for compatible in-person payments.

Older Exodus card terms have referred to physical or Metal cards under a separate programme, but those documents should not be used to describe the current Exodus Pay card. Existing users of earlier Spend Card products are being migrated into the newer Pay experience.

No. Exodus currently states that ATM withdrawals are not supported with the Exodus Pay card.

The current card is virtual-only, so it does not provide the conventional physical-card and PIN functionality needed for standard cash withdrawals. Users who need to move money out of Exodus Pay should use the supported transfer or crypto withdrawal routes rather than an ATM.

This is a major difference from older Exodus card documentation that included ATM functionality for separate card programmes. Current comparisons should use the Exodus Pay rules.

The current Exodus Card is available in a defined list of countries rather than everywhere Exodus Pay itself is available. The supported list includes much of Europe plus Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Mexico and Uruguay, among others.

Exodus currently says new card issuance is not available in the United States, although existing US users can continue to use their cards. Availability can also differ from the older Spend Card programme.

Because Exodus is actively expanding and migrating card products, users should check the current availability page inside the Knowledge Base before relying on an older country list.

Yes for full card access. Exodus Pay can have limited functionality before verification, but Exodus recommends completing identity verification to unlock the full Pay experience and the Exodus Card.

The card activation flow includes the card provider's terms and compliance checks. Requirements can differ by location and issuing partner.

This distinction matters because the broader Exodus wallet remains self-custodial and can be used without the same card onboarding. Using the regulated payment card introduces additional KYC requirements that do not apply to every wallet feature.

Yes. Exodus markets the current card for online and in-store spending wherever the issued card network is accepted, subject to regional and merchant restrictions.

International usability should be separated from card issuance. A cardholder may be able to spend abroad even in countries where residents cannot currently apply for a new Exodus Card.

In some markets, especially parts of Latin America, terminals can process international or prepaid cards only when the merchant selects credit rather than debit. Exodus specifically warns users that a debit selection can cause a transaction to fail in those situations.

When a current Exodus Card purchase is refunded, reversed or credited, Exodus says the amount is returned to the card as a card credit.

The available credit appears below the card details in Exodus Pay and is used as the first funding source for future card purchases before the normal XO Cash balance is used.

This is different from a conventional bank card refund that immediately appears as ordinary account cash. Users should check the card-credit banner if a merchant says a refund has been processed but the main balance has not visibly increased.

Open Exodus Mobile and access the Pay section, then complete the Exodus Pay setup. Eligible users can activate the card from the rewards or card screen and accept the relevant cardholder terms.

The current Exodus Card is virtual, so there is no physical delivery process. Once activated, its details can be used for online purchases or added to Apple Pay or Google Wallet.

Existing Exodus Spend Card users may be asked to migrate into Exodus Pay before continuing to use the card. Availability is country-dependent, and new US issuance is currently paused.

The current Exodus Card is attractive to users who already want a self-custodial payments app and value a free virtual debit card with Apple Pay or Google Wallet support.

Its main advantages are simple integration with Exodus Pay, real-time rewards and international card spending. The biggest limitations are that the card is virtual-only, ATM withdrawals are not supported and Exodus does not currently publish one simple universal cashback percentage.

Users who need a physical card or regular cash access may prefer another product. Users already in the Exodus ecosystem may find the integration and self-custodial design more compelling than the raw rewards rate.
