XPlace Basic
#28
XPlace Basic is the free tier of a Solana-based Visa card that borrows against your crypto at the moment you tap, so your position stays open. It pays 1% cashback in real USDC and works with Apple Pay and Google Pay. The catch: a $2,000 monthly ceiling, no lounge or concierge access, and 0% FX is reserved for Platinum.

The xPlace Basic Card is the free entry tier of the xPlace Visa card. It supports the same core two-mode structure as the wider product: Credit Mode for borrowing against supported crypto and Cash Mode for spending a stablecoin balance.
Basic is designed for users who want to try xPlace without paying an annual membership fee.
The xPlace Basic membership has no annual fee. It is the only free tier in the current four-level xPlace card structure.
Users should still distinguish the membership price from other potential costs associated with borrowing, DeFi activity, deposits or foreign-currency spending. The free membership does not mean every possible transaction or protocol action is cost-free.
xPlace currently lists 1% USDC cashback for Basic users spending in Credit Mode. This is the lowest headline cashback rate among the four membership tiers.
Cashback should not be considered in isolation from borrowing costs or FX charges. If you use Credit Mode, you are opening a collateralised borrowing position, so the economics depend on more than the reward percentage.
The current xPlace plan page lists a $2,000 monthly spending limit for the Basic tier. This is substantially lower than the limits on Silver, Gold and Platinum.
Practical card use can also be affected by available funds or credit, collateral, compliance controls and transaction-level rules. The monthly plan limit is therefore not the only factor that can determine whether a payment is approved.
No. The current xPlace benefits table does not include complimentary airport-lounge visits with the Basic tier.
Lounge access starts on paid plans. Silver currently includes one free visit per year, Gold four visits per year and Platinum advertises unlimited lounge access. Users who value travel benefits should compare the annual fee with how often they would realistically use them.
No. xPlace currently lists neither concierge service nor complimentary airport Fast Track for the Basic tier.
These benefits are used to differentiate the paid plans. Silver adds standard concierge, Gold adds personal concierge and two Fast Track uses per year, while Platinum adds higher-end travel and concierge benefits.
Yes. Credit Mode is part of the core xPlace card rather than being restricted to paid memberships. Basic users can use supported crypto as collateral and borrow for card spending.
Because this is collateralised borrowing, users need to understand LTV and liquidation risk. Keeping the underlying crypto position instead of selling it does not remove the financial risk created by borrowing against it.
Yes. xPlace allows users to switch to Cash Mode and spend their stablecoin balance directly instead of borrowing against collateral.
This can be useful for Basic users who want the card-payment functionality without opening a credit position for every purchase. The available balance and current card-programme rules still apply.
xPlace describes the underlying product as non-custodial by design. Main crypto assets can be deployed through Kamino Finance rather than deposited into a conventional custodial exchange balance.
The Visa card and payment settlement still involve off-chain card infrastructure. Basic users should therefore distinguish self-custody of supported crypto from the regulated payment rails used when a card purchase is processed.
xPlace advertises low FX fees but reserves 0% FX for its Platinum tier. Basic therefore does not receive the top-tier zero-FX benefit.
Users travelling with Basic should review the current fee shown by xPlace before spending in another currency. Merchant dynamic currency conversion can also create a separate markup that is outside xPlace's own pricing.
xPlace currently advertises Apple Pay and Google Pay support for its card product. Eligible Basic cards can therefore use supported mobile-wallet functionality where the issuing programme and device allow it.
Country and issuer availability can vary, so users should confirm that the add-to-wallet option appears for their specific card before relying on it.
xPlace currently highlights BTC, ETH, SOL, JitoSOL and USDT among the assets supported by its collateral and earning system. Basic users access the same underlying xPlace model, subject to the live asset and product rules.
Each asset can have a different LTV and variable yield. Those values should be checked in the current interface before opening a borrowing position.
Basic removes the annual membership fee but not the risks of the underlying product. Credit Mode can expose collateral to liquidation, and yield through DeFi protocols is variable rather than guaranteed.
Users can also face ordinary card risks such as declined transactions, merchant restrictions and currency-conversion costs. The free tier is useful for testing the service, but it should not be treated as risk-free.
Start the xPlace onboarding process and select the Basic membership rather than a paid tier. Basic currently has no annual membership fee.
Complete the eligibility and verification steps required by the card programme, then configure Credit Mode or Cash Mode depending on how you want purchases to be funded. Availability remains subject to the supported jurisdiction and account.
Basic can make sense for users who want to test xPlace without paying an annual membership fee and whose spending fits within the $2,000 monthly limit. It still includes the core Credit Mode and Cash Mode structure and currently advertises 1% Credit Mode cashback.
Users who need higher limits, more cashback or travel benefits would need to compare Basic with the paid tiers.
