The Wealthsimple Credit Card is a Canadian Visa credit card offered in Visa Infinite+ and Visa Infinite Privilege tiers, depending on eligibility. It earns unlimited 2% cash back on eligible purchases and is managed through the Wealthsimple app.
It is not a card that spends crypto directly. Its connection to crypto comes from Wealthsimple's wider investing platform, where users can separately buy and hold supported digital assets.
The current Wealthsimple Visa Infinite+ and Visa Infinite Privilege products are credit cards. Purchases use a credit line and must be repaid according to the cardholder agreement.
Wealthsimple separately offers prepaid and chequing-linked cards for other accounts, so users should not assume every Wealthsimple-branded card has the same structure. This MyCardCompare page refers to the current consumer Visa credit card.
Both current Wealthsimple consumer credit-card tiers earn unlimited 2% cash back on eligible purchases. Cash-like transactions, refunds, fees and adjustments do not earn rewards.
Cash back is redeemed manually through the Wealthsimple app into an eligible Wealthsimple account. There is currently no minimum redemption amount under the published terms.
Not directly as an automatic crypto reward. Wealthsimple's current card terms say cashback can be redeemed into eligible Wealthsimple chequing, TFSA, RRSP or non-registered accounts.
If you redeem to an account from which you can later invest, you may choose to buy crypto separately where Wealthsimple supports it. That is different from a card that pays cashback directly in Bitcoin or another token.
No. The Wealthsimple Visa credit card does not liquidate a crypto balance when you pay. Merchant purchases use the card's credit line and settle through Visa.
Crypto trading is a separate Wealthsimple service. If you want to use crypto value to pay a card bill, you would first need to sell or move funds according to the rules of the relevant Wealthsimple account.
Both cards earn the same unlimited 2% cash back, but Visa Infinite Privilege provides enhanced travel and lifestyle benefits, including stronger insurance and access to the Visa Airport Companion programme.
The Privilege tier has higher eligibility requirements. Wealthsimple determines which card a client qualifies for based on factors such as income, assets, spending and credit profile.
The current card fee is $20 per month, or $240 annually for Quebec residents, when the fee-waiver conditions are not met. Wealthsimple waives the fee for eligible clients with at least $100,000 in qualifying assets or net deposits, or with at least $4,000 of qualifying direct deposit every 30 days.
Interest and cash-advance charges are separate from the card fee.
Wealthsimple currently lists a 20.99% annual interest rate on purchases and 22.99% on cash advances and cash-like transactions. Higher penalty rates can apply after repeated missed minimum payments.
Cardholders who pay the statement balance in full by the due date can generally avoid purchase interest during the applicable grace period, subject to the cardholder agreement.
Yes. Wealthsimple supports both Apple Pay and Google Wallet for its Visa credit card. Cardholders can add the virtual card from the Wealthsimple app and use it for compatible contactless payments.
The virtual card can be useful before the physical card arrives. Mobile-wallet transactions earn the normal card rewards when otherwise eligible.
Wealthsimple currently promotes no FX fees on its consumer credit-card purchases. This can make the card more attractive for travel than many Canadian cards that add a foreign transaction markup.
Visa still converts the merchant currency into the account's billing currency using the applicable network rate. Dynamic currency conversion offered by a merchant or ATM can produce a different exchange rate and is separate from Wealthsimple's fee policy.
Applicants must reside in Canada, be the age of majority in their province or territory and have an active Wealthsimple chequing account. Approval also depends on credit and eligibility criteria.
For Visa Infinite+, published qualifying routes include at least $80,000 personal income, $150,000 household income, $300,000 in savings and investments, or at least $25,000 of annual credit-card spending. Higher thresholds apply to Visa Infinite Privilege.
No. The current consumer Wealthsimple credit card is a Canadian product and requires Canadian residency for application.
An approved card can be used internationally where Visa is accepted, but global merchant acceptance does not change the Canadian residency requirement for getting the card.
Yes. Both current tiers include travel and purchase protections, while Visa Infinite Privilege adds stronger benefits and access to more than 1,200 participating airport lounges through Visa Airport Companion.
Coverage, limits and exclusions vary by card tier. Cardholders should review the current insurance certificate before relying on the card for a specific trip or purchase.
Open or maintain an eligible Wealthsimple chequing account and join the credit-card waitlist or application flow in the app. Wealthsimple first assesses eligibility and then offers the appropriate Visa tier if you qualify.
Approved users can access virtual card details in the app, while the physical card is delivered separately. Applying can involve credit checks, so review the current application terms before proceeding.
Wealthsimple provides 24/7 support for its current consumer credit cards. Start with the official Wealthsimple Help Centre or the support route inside the app for card, cashback, payment, dispute or travel-assistance questions.
If the card is lost or compromised, lock it in the app where available and contact official support promptly. Never share one-time codes or account passwords with unsolicited contacts.
