Bitstack is a French bitcoin savings app whose Visa card pays bitcoin back on every purchase and rounds your spending up to the nearest euro to invest the change. It costs €9.99 once with no subscription, and includes €200 of free ATM withdrawals and €1,000 of foreign currency spending each month. The catch: the card is France-only for now, and Bitstack does not publish the cashback rate.

FAQs

Questions, answered

The Bitstack Card is a Visa Classic debit card linked to the euro cash account inside the Bitstack app. It lets eligible users pay online, in stores and at ATMs using the euro balance available in their Bitstack cash account.

The card does not spend Bitcoin directly. Instead, Bitstack combines a French euro account, Bitcoin savings features and a Visa debit card in one app. Every card payment is debited immediately from the cash balance.

What makes the card distinctive is how it connects spending with Bitcoin saving. Eligible purchases can earn Stackback in Bitcoin, and users can activate card round-ups so the difference between a purchase and the next euro is automatically saved in Bitcoin. The physical card currently costs €9.99 plus delivery and has no monthly card subscription.

The Bitstack Card is a debit card, not a credit card. You can only spend money already available in your Bitstack cash account.

There is no overdraft, revolving credit line or interest-bearing card balance. When you make a purchase, the amount is debited immediately from the euro cash balance in the app. A transaction that exceeds the available balance is declined.

This makes Bitstack quite different from crypto-backed credit cards that let users borrow against Bitcoin or other collateral. Bitstack's card is designed as a straightforward euro spending tool that sits alongside its Bitcoin saving features. If you want to spend value held in Bitcoin, you would first need to sell Bitcoin into the euro cash account rather than borrowing against it automatically at checkout.

No. The Bitstack Card spends euros from your Bitstack cash account rather than automatically selling Bitcoin at the moment of every purchase.

Bitstack gives users a French euro account alongside its Bitcoin saving features. Card transactions are deducted from that euro balance. If you hold Bitcoin and want to use that value for spending, you first need to sell the Bitcoin into the cash account.

This separation can make everyday spending easier to understand because the card behaves like a normal euro debit card. It also means each coffee or supermarket purchase does not automatically trigger a Bitcoin sale. Bitcoin remains part of the savings side of Bitstack, while the card draws from the cash side of the app.

Yes. Bitstack is authorised in France as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider under the EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation, MiCA.

Bitstack states that the Autorité des Marchés Financiers, or AMF, granted its CASP authorisation under number A2025-003 on 30 June 2025. That authorisation covers Bitstack's regulated crypto-asset services, including activities connected with buying, selling, holding and transferring Bitcoin.

The card and euro-account infrastructure also involve regulated payment services separate from the crypto authorisation. Users should therefore distinguish Bitstack's MiCA status from the legal framework governing the cash account and Visa card. MiCA regulation is still an important differentiator because it places Bitstack's Bitcoin services inside the harmonised EU crypto regulatory framework.

Stackback is Bitstack's Bitcoin reward programme for eligible card purchases. Every Bitstack Card holder currently receives at least 0.1% back in Bitcoin on eligible spending, with a minimum reward of one satoshi per qualifying transaction.

Users who save automatically through executed recurring Bitcoin purchases and card round-ups can unlock 1% Stackback on a portion of their monthly spending. The amount of spending that receives the 1% rate depends on the amount saved automatically in the previous month.

For example, higher automatic saving can increase the monthly spending allowance that earns 1%. Once that allowance is used, eligible purchases continue earning the base 0.1%. ATM withdrawals, account top-ups, gambling, taxes and various financial transactions do not qualify.

Card round-ups automatically save the spare change from eligible Bitstack Card purchases in Bitcoin. If you pay €7.40, for example, Bitstack can round the transaction up to €8 and convert the €0.60 difference into Bitcoin.

The feature can be enabled or disabled from the Cash section of the app. Bitstack treats card round-ups separately from its older round-up feature linked to external bank accounts, although both follow the same basic idea of turning everyday purchases into automatic Bitcoin savings.

Card round-ups can also contribute to your Stackback tier. Since August 2026, executed round-ups are added to recurring Bitcoin purchases when Bitstack calculates how much monthly card spending can qualify for the higher 1% Stackback rate.

The Bitstack Card has no monthly subscription fee. The physical card currently costs €9.99 plus delivery.

Foreign-currency spending has a generous free allowance: Bitstack charges no additional FX fee on the first €1,000 of foreign-currency card payments each month. Above that amount, an FX fee of approximately 1% applies to the portion exceeding the allowance, using the Visa exchange rate.

ATM withdrawals are free from Bitstack up to €200 per month or five withdrawals, whichever comes first. Above that, Bitstack charges the higher of €1 or 1% of the withdrawal. ATM operators can add their own surcharge. These card fees are separate from Bitstack's Bitcoin trading fees, which apply when buying or selling Bitcoin in the app.

Bitstack currently sets a €5,000 monthly card-payment limit. ATM withdrawals are limited to €200 per week and €1,000 per month.

These are card limits, not free-fee allowances. For example, Bitstack waives its own ATM fee only up to €200 per month or five withdrawals, even though the card can withdraw up to €1,000 per month in total.

The limits are visible in the Bitstack app under Cash, your card and Limits. Bitstack says they cannot currently be increased. Because the card is an immediate debit card, your available euro balance is also a practical limit. Any transaction above the cash balance is declined even if it is below the formal monthly card ceiling.

Yes. The physical Bitstack Card can be used at ATMs wherever Visa is accepted, in France and abroad.

Bitstack currently allows up to €200 in ATM withdrawals per week and €1,000 per month. Its own withdrawal fee is waived on the first €200 per month or five withdrawals, whichever threshold is reached first. After that, each additional withdrawal costs at least €1 or 1% of the amount, whichever is higher.

An ATM operator can also charge a separate fee. If you withdraw in a foreign currency, the card's FX allowance and foreign-exchange pricing can apply on top of any withdrawal charge. This makes occasional cash withdrawals relatively inexpensive, but frequent ATM use can become more costly once the monthly free allowance is used.

The Bitstack Card supports Apple Pay, but Google Pay is not yet available according to Bitstack's current Help Centre.

Apple Pay support launched on 30 June 2026. After activating the physical card in the Bitstack app, eligible iPhone users can add it to Apple Wallet for contactless, online and in-app purchases.

Bitstack says Google Pay compatibility is still under development and will be introduced later. This is important because some older or generic card comparisons may incorrectly assume that supporting Visa automatically means both wallets are available. If Android mobile-wallet payments are essential to you, the current Bitstack Card is not yet equivalent to cards that already support Google Pay.

The Bitstack Card is currently available only to residents of France. Bitstack has expanded its Bitcoin app into several European countries, but the euro cash account and card rollout remain more limited.

Eligible French residents first need access to the Bitstack cash account and must complete the required identity and tax-residence verification. The Card option then appears in the Cash section when the account is eligible.

This distinction matters because downloading Bitstack in Spain, Germany, Italy or another supported Bitcoin market does not currently mean you can order the card there. Bitstack says users outside the card rollout will be notified when their account becomes eligible in the future.

Yes. Eligible users who open the Bitstack cash account receive a personalised French IBAN.

The account can be used to send and receive euro SEPA transfers, including salary payments and reimbursements, and it provides the euro balance used by the Bitstack Card. It also creates a direct bridge between euros and Bitcoin inside the same app, because users can buy or sell Bitcoin against the cash account without first moving money through another bank.

The cash account is currently available only to residents of France. Opening it requires identity verification and tax-residence information. Once approved, Bitstack says the French IBAN becomes available immediately.

Not yet. Bitstack currently offers a physical Visa Classic card and says a virtual card is planned for a future update.

The physical card costs €9.99 plus delivery. Once ordered and activated, it can be used online as well as in stores and at ATMs, so users do not need a separate virtual card to make ecommerce payments.

Apple Pay is already supported, which gives iPhone users a digital way to use the physical card after activation. Google Pay is still under development. If you specifically need an instantly issued virtual card before any physical delivery, Bitstack does not currently offer that experience.

If you are an eligible French resident, open the Bitstack app, go to the Cash tab and select Order a card. You choose a PIN, enter your delivery address and pay the current €9.99 card fee plus delivery.

Bitstack allows the order to be paid from the cash account, by bank card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. After confirmation, the card normally enters production the following day.

Bitstack currently estimates delivery at up to 10 business days in metropolitan France and up to three weeks in French overseas territories. After receiving it, activate the card in the app and complete a first chip-and-PIN transaction to enable contactless payments.

For card, cash-account or Bitcoin questions, use Bitstack's official Help Centre at https://help.bitstack-app.com. The Help Centre includes dedicated guidance on card ordering, activation, fees, limits, Stackback, round-ups and account access.

For an account-specific problem, contact Bitstack through the support option available from the app or Help Centre. If a card is lost or stolen, freeze it immediately from the card settings before contacting support.

Never share your password, security codes or Bitcoin wallet credentials with someone contacting you unsolicited. For a payment problem, keep the merchant, date, amount and any decline message available so support can investigate the specific card transaction.
